2018 brings a New Year and a New Team to our all inclusive community club
We are making a difference in 2018 and making new friendships.
Tankerton FC identified a gap for children with severe deafness and/or impaired hearing participating in football activities. Setting up a team specifically for deaf children who show a passion for football has been a long-held aspiration for our club.
We are delighted the opportunity has now come about to make this happen.
Tim Elgar, Paul Kingston and Liz Flaxman are taking the team forward and today we had the absolute pleasure of meeting our first squad member, Toby, who made us all laugh so much. Toby is 9 years old and is severely deaf; his parents, Glenn and Sally, said Toby is very excited and can’t wait for it to start and, even better, blue is his favourite colour.
We warmly welcome children aged U6 - U12s to join in the non-competitive, fun and interactive sessions where they will learn football skills, maintain fitness and flourish in a social environment and gain confidence in sport. Sometimes the children can feel excluded, socially disengaged and deprived from playing sports. We are now making a difference. As well as providing grassroots football, we recognise young people also use this time to socialise and to learn important life skills, all of which will boost their self-esteem and confidence too.
We can’t wait for this to happen; 2018 brings a new year and a new team to our all-inclusive community club. This is just the start of an incredible journey for us all, so spread the word and let deaf children know that Saturday 6th January 2018 is just the beginning.
The sessions are open to children with all levels of deafness.
Venue: All Saints Church Hall, Church Street, Whitstable, CT5 1PG.
Date Commencing: Saturday 6th January 2018
